Duterte-Carpio to attend 2 more political rallies before May 9

-

DAVAO City Mayor and Vice Presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio will be attending two more miting de avance in Davao Region less than a week before the May 9 elections.

Duterte-Carpio bared in an interview livestreamed on her official Facebook page on Monday, May 2, that she will be attending the miting de avance in Tagum City on Thursday, May 5.

The rally in Tagum will be at the New City Hall Ground, and be organized by the UniTeam. The mayor will be joined by her runningmate, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Also present are the UniTeam senatoriables including Herbert Bautista, Jinggoy Estrada, Larry Gadon, Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Juan Miguel Zubiri, House Representative Loren Legara, former Presidentila Spokesperson Harry Roque, Gilbert Teodoro, and former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar. It is still unclear if House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta will join the event following his withdrawal from the senatorial race on April 27.

She will also be attending the final miting de avance of the joint Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod-Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HTL-HNP) led by her brother, Davao City Vice Mayor and Mayoralty candidate Sebastian Duterte on Friday, May 6 at the San Pedro Street.

The mayor, however, said there will no longer be a grand UniTeam rally in her hometown, of which she previously declined.

Duterte-Carpio had earlier attended local rallies in the city. The first was the HTL-HNP rally on April 28 at Barangay Vicente Duterte.

Duterte-Carpio shared that attending the rally in Barangay Duterte is significant to her considering the area was named after his late grandfather, Vicente Duterte, former Danao, Cebu mayor and former Governor of the single-province Davao Region.

“Mahinungdanon para sa akoa nga muapil didto(It is significant for me to attend the event there). It’s because he started the legacy of public service sa amoang pamilya (in our family),” she said.

On Labor Day Sunday, May 1, she also attended the grandy rally organized by Dumper PTDA (Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights–Philippines Taxi Drivers Association) at the Davao Crocodile Park grounds.

It is where Duterte-Carpio announced that she will no longer return to local politics regardless of the results of the May 9 elections.

Meanwhile, the UniTeams last stop of their grand rally will be on Saturday, May 7 at Parañaque City. /
