Duterte-Carpio reminisce time as mayor

VICE presidenti­al candidate and mayor Sara Duterte-Caprio looks back at Davao City’s achievemen­ts before she ends her term as mayor and attempt to win the vice presidenti­al race on May 9, 2022.

While attending the miting de avance of Hugpong ng Pagbabago on May 6 at San Pedro Square, Duterte-Carpio shared how the local administra­tion, during her term, has prioritize­d paying off the city’s debt of around P1-billion.

“Ang mga utang na gikuha sa gobyerno, sa atong lokal nga kagamhanan dinhi sa siyudad sa Davao, gibayran nako tanan para ang mga mosunod nako nga administra­syon wala na sila’y problemaho­n na pagbayad sa utang sa siyudad (We paid off our debts to ensure that the next administra­tion will not have to deal with it),” she said.

Duterte-Carpio was also proud to share that during her stint, Davao City has earned numerous achievemen­ts, including the recognitio­n as the 4th Most Competitiv­e City and 8th Richest City nationwide based on the National Competitiv­eness Council’s Cities and Municipali­ties Competitiv­e Index.

The Davao City Police Office was also named as the 2nd Best City Police Office nationwide with a record of zero human rights complaints, while also ending local insurgency in the city. “Sulod sa upat ka-tuig nahuman nato tanan ang problema sa insurgency dinhi sa siyudad sa DAvao,” she said.
