CONCERNED WITH BLACKHEADS

- BY FRITZ ESPEDILLA, M.D. dokfritz@yahoo.com

Dear Dr. Fritz,

Cheers! Please call me Ida. I have a problem with my blackheads. I hate them because they look so dirty and they settle most in my nose. I had facials. But, I don’t like them. They are so painful and I can’t stand them. Is there any way on how I can get them without so much pain? – which I hope I can do at home.

Thank you and God bless. More power to you, doc!

Ida of Bansalan

I understand those nasty blackheads are one of the most common facial problems. I know how painful facials are. You can try the over-the-counter blackhead removal mask. But, here is an effective home remedy for your problem.

Prepare the following. You need half of a teaspoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon of water and one tablespoon of salt.

Now, mix all of those ingredients in a bowl and apply the mixture into your face.

Massage this in a circular motion for about two to four minutes. Press a cotton ball over your nose area or where you see those nasty blackheads sitting. Then, see if those blackheads would come out much easier than by going through a facial therapy. If you want, you can do this twice a day.

But, if those blackheads would resist this lemon juice combination, then, you really have to do it the hard way. Sorry, you’ve got to get those facials, dear!

One of the things to prevent them from coming back after facials is to make sure that you clean your face before you sleep. Make sure that the sebaceous glands are not clogged up – otherwise, you will have whiteheads. And once those whiteheads are contaminated with dirt, then, you get those blackheads at the front seats of your face. So, cleanliness on your face could be next to “blackheadslessness”.

Good luck!
