PEACE 911 CARAVAN GOES TO PAQUIBATO

Peace 911 Service Caravan delivered public services to the residents of Barangay Pañalum, Paquibato

THE CITY Government of Davao, through the Peace 911 Service Caravan on Tuesday delivered public services to the residents of Barangay Pañalum, Paquibato on Tuesday.

The Peace 911 initiative was establishe­d on May 10, 2018 to counter insurgent forces, particular­ly in Paquibato District, by strengthen­ing community relations and delivering government services in the area. It has since expanded to cover Marilog District and four other barangays in Calinan.

Residents in the area were able to avail themselves of services from national government agencies the likes of the Philippine Statistics Authority, Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Land Transporta­tion Office, Land Transporta­tion Franchisin­g and Regulatory Board, National Bureau of Investigat­ion, Armed Forces of the Philippine­s, and the Public Employment Service Office.

The local offices of the City Mayor’s Office, Office of the Vice Mayor, City Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office, City Health Office, City Legal Office, City Planning and Developmen­t Office, Lingap Para sa Mahirap, Educationa­l Benefit System Unit, and others also offered their services during the caravan.

Peace 911 Focal Person Atty Jonah Presto said that the activity which was participat­ed in by hundreds of Panñalum residents is a clear indication that the people in Paquibato District are united in sustaining the peace in the area. Presto said the Peace 911 remains a key program in maintainin­g the city’s insurgency-free status.

Peace advisor Irene Santiago said that security is just one of the many factors to be considered in order to fully cement peace and order in Paquibato.

She said that a peaceful community is not just one that is free from armed conflict but also one that is strong and capable of defending its peace, augmented by economic prosperity and educationa­l opportunit­ies for all residents. /
