NEEDS HELP FOR YEAST INFECTION

- MEDITALK BY FRITZ ESPEDILLA, M.D dokfritz@yahoo.com Dear Mildew Kitten,

(PART 2)

(Foreword: This is the continuation of our response to Mildew Kitten on her concerns about yeast infections.)

Alright, moving on…here’s more for you.

5 . Use tea tree oil in moderation

There are studies that suggested that tea tree oil is effective against yeast infection, though more research needs to be done. You may find this in suppositories or topicals. But be cautious

because frequent application of tea tree oil may lead to skin irritation and rashes. Thus, use this in moderation. 6

. Take antifungal medications

This is the most effective treatment for any fungal infection. I hope you take your doctor’s advice and take what was prescribed to you. Be sure to follow the instructions for the drug because there are a lot of different strengths and delivery methods for antifungal medications. Your doctor knows what is good for you.

Now, if you have been taking home remedies for your fungal infections and you are still experiencing symptoms of yeast infection or it may be getting worse, you have to see your physician.

And if antifungal medicines are not working, it could be that you might need a stronger one or it may be something else, more than a yeast infection, which may require antibiotics. What is important is, you go back to your physician if there are problems with the treatment, don’t resort to medicating yourself because you might find yourself from worse to worst.

Good luck! Dr. Fritz
