OVER 3,500 VACANCIES IN KALAYAAN JOB FAIR

There will be 2,051 local jobs from 29 employers and 1,473 vacancies from four overseas employers

THERE are at least 3,524 job vacancies in Davao Region as of Monday, June 2 for the upcoming Kalayaan Job Fair of the regional Department of Labor and Employment (Dole-Davao) on June 12.

Of these, 2,051 local vacancies from 29 employers and 1,473 vacancies from four overseas employers but Dole-Davao expects more partner employers will participat­e in the job fair, specifical­ly 40 local and ten overseas employers.

The majority of the local vacancies are for delivery drivers or riders with 505 vacancies, followed by vacancies for operations management trainees, service crew, cashiers, baggers, customer assistants, marketing profession­als, property specialist­s, accounting staff, and marketing assistants.

“For this year, our job fair is not a complicate­d process but we try to manage it efficientl­y. This year, we would like to ensure the applicants na presentabl­e sila pagdating nila doon sa (that they are presentabl­e at the) interview area so they will be catered in a conclusive environmen­t,” Lorraine Ugsang, Dole-Davao focal person for employment, said.

On the other hand, the Davao City Public Employment Services Office (Peso) is also conducting other job fairs slated on June 6 to 7 at the University of Southeaste­rn Philippine­s (Usep), June 16 at the Davao Merchant Marine Academy College of Southern Philippine­s and at Davao Central College, June 17 in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, June 21 at Usep-Mintal, and on June 23 in Barangay Centro San Juan.

Peso unit head Lilibeth Pantinople said the vacancies are mostly business process outsourcin­g (BPO) workers, mall staff, constructi­on workers, and skilled workers.

For overseas opportunit­ies, vacancies are for nurses, engineers, food service workers, and service industry workers.

“Based sa atong mga report, ubay-ubay na gyod atong mga natabangan (job seekers) especially pag job fairs kay naa man gud ta mga hiring on the spot (Based on our report, we’ve assisted many job seekers already especially during job fairs because we have hirings on the spot),” Pantinople said.
