DAVAO CITY RECORDS 3 KIDS WHO DIED DUE TO DENGUE

DAVAO City recorded three dengue-related deaths involving minors, based on the data provided by the City Health Office (CHO) on Thursday, June 8.

Two were recorded in May and one was recorded in January. Two of the minors were also female aged one to four years old and five to nine years old, while one case was a male between the age of 10 to 14 years old.

No further details were disclosed by CHO officer-in-charge Dr. Tomas Ababon.

Meanwhile, Davao City recorded 574 cases of dengue as of May of this year.

Of this, Ababon said 478 were verified cases during the first quarter from January to March wherein the majority of the cases were between the ages of one to 14 years old.

Of the 478 cases, 161 cases belong to the age group of five to nine years old, 119 were ten to 14 years old, 111 were one to four years old, and 69 were 15 to 19 years old.

There were also a number of cases wherein the patients were infants, particularly 17 cases aged 29 days to 11 months and one case aged zero to six days.

The CHO also identified high-risk barangays in all three districts of Davao City. In the first district, listed are Barangays 19-B, 8-A, 76-A, Talomo Poblacion, Matina Aplaya, Matina Crossing, Maa, Catalunan Pequeño, Catalunan Grande, and Bago Gallera.

In the second district, included are Barangays Buhangin Proper, Sasa, Tibungco, Panacan, Ilang, Agdao, Mandug, Tigatto, and Indangan while in the third district, identified barangays are Toril Proper, Sto. Niño, Mintal, Tacunan, Calinan Poblacion, Los Amigos, and Baguio.

Last year, a total of 1,481 dengue cases were recorded in Davao City.
