P10-M allotted for Battle of Ising heritage bldg.

DAVAO del Norte Second District Rep. Allan Dujali will provide P10 million to construct the Battle of Ising Heritage building in the Municipality of Carmen to become a primary landmark in the Municipality of Carmen.

Dujali revealed this in his keynote speaking engagement during the 78th commemoration of the Battle of Ising at the Ising Shrine at Barangay Ising.

Beyond the heritage building construction, Dujali also pitched the call to educate the young generation on the significance of the Battle of Ising.

The youth may no longer be engaging in war, but the new breed is facing the challenge of the “war against poverty and hunger, the war against illegal drugs and terrorism,” among others that he saw as threats to living peaceful lives.

The Battle of Ising honors the Dabaonon guerillas who fought against the Japanese soldiers and successfully defended the Davao Region and the entire Mindanao from the Japanese force’s invasion during the Second World War.

Meanwhile, Rep. Dujali said in the same occasion that the renaming of the road traversing barangays New Camiling, Alejal and Magsaysay in the municipality of Carmen into “SATURNINO R. SILVA Road” is his way of paying tribute to Lt. Col. Saturnino R. Silva, whose regiment of 1,500 men fought alongside with Filipino guerillas to defeat the Japanese forces in what is now accounted as “The Battle of Ising.”

Dujali was the author of Republic Act No. 11731 for the renaming of such roads as he wanted the current generation of Dabaonons to remember and honor “those who fought for our freedom. /
