NZ firms keen on PH tech, RE, green economy
AFFIRMING New Zealand’s commitment to boosting bilateral and economic ties with the Philippines, a high-level business delegation joined New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on his visit to the Philippines today. The visit, supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, showcased New Zealand’s worldclass capabilities across a number of key sectors, including technology, renewable energy, and green economy and highlighted the country’s strong interest in growing partnership opportunities.
Prime Minister Luxon was in Manila as part of his inaugural international mission to South East Asia, which included stops in Singapore and Thailand. The business delegation accompanying the mission comprised pioneering companies spanning various industry sectors, each offering cutting-edge innovations and premium products and services, presenting abundant opportunities for collaboration and partnerships within the region.
The Right Honourable Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, said, “We recognize the importance of investing time and resources to further our relationship with the Philippines and the broader South East Asian region to advance our shared economic interests and strengthen the bonds between our nations.”
Prime Minister Luxon emphasized New Zealand’s interest in technology partnerships, including fintech, clean tech, and health tech. Over the past decade, the New Zealand tech sector has more than doubled, making it the country’s second-largest export earner after dairy. Fintech stands out as the fastest-growing and highest-grossing subsector. /
