actor Joel Torre won the Best Actor award at the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea for his role at the film "On The Job ( OTJ)." It was his first international acting trophy.
"The award took me by surprise. I don't even know that I was nominated in the Best Actor category until last minute. I'm thankful that at the latter part of my career I still get a chance to play a role like this," said Torre in a press conference Wednesday night.
Torre described his stint at OTJ as a "role of a lifetime."
Gerald Anderson and Piolo Pascual are the lead actors in the film where Torre plays as a prisoner/ hitman.
Torre said he's happy to work with Anderson again, while he lauds Pascual and the rest of the casts’ acting and professionalism on the set.
" Ang bonding namin dito sa movie ay napakalakas. We had so much fun and it shows sa pelikula," said Torre.
OTJ was also selected to participate in the Directors Fortnight category at the 66th Cannes Film Festival in France.
Torres, with Anderson, Pascual, Matti and Rayver Cruz, all went to Europe to attend the screening and red carpet premier. He said it was a totally different experience.
"I'm proud to represent the film and our country in Cannes. Parang mangiyak-ngiyak kami sa tuwa, yun talaga ang pakiramdam namin doon."
Directed by Erik Matti, Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment’s OTJ is part of the 20th anniversary offering of Star Cinema and will be screened locally starting August 28.
