9 Pampango films to be featured in Cagayan de Oro film festival
STA. RITA—At least nine Kapampangan films by Kapampangan filmmakers will be featured in this year’s 6th Cinema Rehiyon Film Festival in Cagayan De Oro City this from February 18 to 22 at SM Cagayan De Oro and Xavier University.
The Cinemalaya feature film “Babagwa” ( The Spider’s Lair) by Jason Paul Laxamana will be screened, along with the following award-winning short films from last year’s CineKabalen Kapampangan Film Festival: “Coup de Grace” (Blow of Merby) by Petersen Vargas, “Cabatingan” (Misplaced) by Brianne Amparado, “Matwang Dalaga” by Carlo Catu, “Sulat” (Letter) by Jonathan David,
“Kumpisal” (Confession) by Clarklouis Sanchez, and “Ing Guinu Mu” (Only God Knows) by Bor Ocampo.
“Tune Lugud” (True Love), a Kapampangan documentary made by Marcelo Lacap III will also be screened, along with the first ever Kapampangan animated film, “I Pau at I Matsin” (The Turtle and The Monkey), by Leo Calma.
Representing Kapampangan Cinema as delegates are Catu, Lacap, Amparado, and David. Laxamana serves as one of the programmers of Luzon films.
Cinema Rehiyon is a non-competitive film festival that gathers filmmakers from different regions of the Philippines in celebration of the National Arts Month.
