How to Upgrade the Quality of Time in the Classroom
Another way of planning for a better learning environment is to examine how people function together in the classroom, what their needs are and how they get met.
Experienced teachers know that problems sometimes occur even in the so called “noproblem or teaching-learning” area. Even though teacher-student and student-student relationships seem to be problem-free, something can happen to create problems.
One student hits another for no apparent reason; or another starts yelling at his peers to leave him alone; or the teachers suddenly become aware of annoying noises or disturbances that previously went unnoticed. It isn’t until we examine the quality of the teaching-learning environment that these behaviors begin to be understood and handle constructively.
Within the “no-problem area” those times when teaching and learning become possible- three different kinds of available and usable time exist:(1)Diffused Time;(2) Individual time; and (3) Optimum Time
