SM medical, dental mission serves Telabastagan folk
Over 500 recipients from mixed beneficiaries of elderly, pregnant women and children were recently served by SM Foundation with its medical mission at Savemore San Fernando in Bar an gay Telabastagan in the City of San Fernando.
SM Foundation Inc., the charitable arm of the SM Supermalls, under the project “Gamot Para sa Kapwa” aims to provide ancillary services to communities which have limited or no access to such services, to give literacy programs to enable communities and individuals to prevent and manage diseases and illnesses after the medical mission, and to provide an avenue to encourage health advocacy, multi-sectoral coordination and community participation.
This year’s activity, spearheaded by SM Foundation Senior Project Manager Dr. Rorie Siasoco was in partnership with City Health Office headed by Dr. Eloisa Aquino with project coordinator Alfred Goingco, City Social Welfare and Development and Philippine Red Cross San Fernando Ch ap t er.
Also partnering with Philippine Business for Social Progress under the Innovations and Multisectoral Partnerships to Achieve Control of Tuberculosis (IMPACT), the group gave assessment on tuberculosis in children.
A special treat of free popcorn, toys, coloring materials and clothes were given to children who had their check-up from partner Chummy Chum Foundation Philippines Inc.
Services included medical check-up and treatment, blood pressure check-up and dental check-up includes extraction.
Through the SM Foundation Mobile Clinic, diagnostic and laboratory services were also be provided such as chest Xray and Electro Cardiograph (ECG). Apart from these medical services, free medicines for commonillnesses and vitamins were distributed to patients as prescribed by doctors.
Gamot Para sa Kapwa is conducted yearly wherein SM has malls and its barangay health center counterpart, the Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Center. (Press Release)
