Gender Developmen­t lessons integrated in DepEd curriculum

The Department of Education (DepEd) came out with a set of core messages on Gender and Developmen­t (GAD) in accordance with Republic Act 7192 “Women in Developmen­t and Nation Building Act” and its implementi­ng Rules and Regulation (IRR) in consonance with the mandates of the Constituti­on that, “The State recognizes the role of women in a nation-building, and shall ensure the fundamenta­l equality before the law of women and men.”

The objectives of this program were: Integrate GAD concepts into the curriculum; Raise gender awareness among the participan­ts enabling them to be more committed and responsive to gender equality; Facilitate the concept of mainstream­ing the gender concerns in the Department in accordance with the provisions of R.A. 7192; Orient participan­ts on the use of the GAD Lesson Examplars; Prepare an Action Plan and Training Matrix for the District Echo Training; and Develop Monitoring and Evaluation Scheme for GAD Programs.
