COMMUNITY LINKAGES: A PARTNERSHIP OF TRUST AND SUPPORT
ELIZABETH YUMUL
It is indeed essential in the academe to establish a great deal of strong relationship with the rest of the stakeholders in the community. The school and the community serve as the main sources of effective and powerful sources that can create an impact for mutual gains and betterment.
Because of the foregoing linkages of the school and the community, we can make create better connection to the people in the community like local government units, parents, alumni and private individuals and enterprises. It is evident schools and communities should work closely with each other to meet their mutual goals. Schools can provide more support for students, families and staff when they are an integral part of the community.
As part of our educational directions, we should build quality partnerships with all the stakeholders in the community. Hence, we need to work as a community to nurture our schools for our particular community needs. The connection of school programs to the community projects can be evidently prove the existence of good communicative and development goals.
I believe the answer to real education/school transformation is strong, authentic community connections and actions. When families, community groups, business and schools band together to support learning, young people achieve more in school, stay in school longer, and enjoy the experience more.
As an educator, it will be better if we involve people in the community in achieving our progressive goals in the class as far as our learners are concerned. We engage parents and local units to at least be involved with the existing and future courses of actions of the school where their kids and other members of the community stay for their studies. The collaboration should be consistent and should be aligned on to whatever the Department of Education implements and adheres to.
Teachers who have good community relations are more motivated to teach and provide more opportunities for better learning. We can also learn and tie up with other organizations related to our field of expertise. These linkages can help teachers in molding our learners to be better persons in this globallydemanding world.
Let us create a way to improve our teaching and one of which is establishing greater partnership outside of the comforts of our rooms. Thus, community linkages are vitalities of successful instruction and administration. As what a famous saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child”.
