CITY
OF SAN FERNANDO---Looking for affordable gifts for your loved ones this Christmas season?
Visit the City of San Fernando as it formally launches today its Pre-Christmas Trade Fair and Diskwento Caravan located in front of the City Hall.
The ceremonial opening was led by Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Chair for Committee on Trade and Industry Councilor Reden Halili, Councilor BJ Lagman, Business License and Permit Division Chief Joseph Garcia, City Market Specialist Levi Tiomico and Department of Trade and Industry- Pampanga Director Elenita Ordonio.
Dubbed “Presyong Panalo para sa mamimiling Fernandino,” the fair which showcases various local
products made by Fernandino micro, small and medium entrepreneurs will last until December 3.
“More than 20 entrepreneurs gathered for this season’s fair to sell native delicacies, wood crafts, kitchen utensils, linen products and many more at a reasonable price,” said Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago in an interview.
As part of ensuring consumers’rights, the city through its Economic Enterprise Division in partnership with DTI also led the destruction of 98 defective weighing scales and 1,000 boxes of uncertified Christmas lights.
Santiago said the local government conducts regular calibration test both in public markets and supermarkets to stop the proliferation of illegal weights and measures.
For her part, Ordonio explained that the lights were confiscated for lack of official labels and markings.
“The city takes necessary actions to stop the selling of restricted items and we appeal to the public to be more vigilant in purchasing products to avoid being victimized by unscrupulous vendors,” Santiago added.--
