Kara­p­atan, Bayan to host CL in­ter­na­tional hu­man rights week

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— In com­mem­o­ra­tion of the up­com­ing In­ter­na­tional Hu­man Rights Day on De­cem­ber 10, Kara­p­atan Cen­tral-Lu­zon (CL), an al­liance for the ad­vance­ment of peo­ples’rights and Bagong Alyansang Mak­abayan (Bayan Git­nang Lu­son), will be hold­ing a week-long ac­tiv­ity to call for jus­tice to the Mar­cos vic­tims and free all po­lit­i­cal pris­on­ers in the Philip­pines.

With the cur­rent wors­en­ing hu­man rights sit­u­a­tion in the coun­try, Kara­p­atan and Bayan said “there is a need to gather sup­port and build a firm con­dem­na­tion against the pre­vail­ing hu­man rights cri­sis in our coun­try.”

Start­ing on De­cem­ber 3, Kara­p­atan-CL will un­veil a seven-day Sol­i­dar­ity Cen­ter Booth for hu­man rights vic­tims be­side the Angeles City Li­brary that will end on De­cem­ber 9.

The booth will serve as a sta­tion for photo and art ex­hibit of po­lit­i­cal pris­on­ers, t-shirt print­ing, a host to var­i­ous hu­man rights re­lated cul­tural per­for­mances and po­etry read­ing to­gether with other sec­tors com­ing from dif­fer­ent prov­inces.

While on the 10th of De­cem­ber, Kara­p­atan and Bayan will be stag­ing a Cen­tral Lu­zon wide in­dig­na­tion protest at 1:00 pm from Plaza Anghel go­ing to Plaza Mi­randa un­til 2:30 pm. Af­ter­wards, a con­cert start­ing at 2:30 pm to­gether with Sin­ing Si­lan­gan and other cul­tural groups will end the pro­gram un­til 5:00 pm. (Press Re­lease)
