CSF to utilize pick and drop points in JASA
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - In a bid to instill discipline among commuters and motorists, the city government here is set to specify pick and drop points along the busy Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) in this capital city.
Mayor Edwin Santiago said that designation of pick and drop points in the major thoroughfare is one of the city’s measure to prevent traffic build-up especially at the Dolores junctions where thousands of vehicles pass each day.
“We have been creating various measures to lessen traffic jams in our city through projects and infrastructures but this program is unique as it will be based on the discipline and cooperation of Fernandinos,” he stressed.
Santiago said that the program will be strictly enforced and violators will be penalized to ensure that everybody, including public utility vehicles, commuters and pedestrians comply.
The mayor did not yet disclose the official pick and drop points but assured that footbridges and terminals will be included to make it strategic to commuters.
“We have a wide road here in JASA and we are actually improving it further to accommodate vehicles that are passing by our city. But cooperation from the people is also needed to lessen traffic. They cannot just stop their cars wherever they want, especially if it is part of the road,” he noted.
He added that penalties will be imposed for motorists and commuters who are not disciplined enough abide by the rule.
“I believe every Fernandino is disciplined and we need to show it and be united for a new and better San Fernando,” he stressed.
Santiago said that pick and drop points will be implemented after the ongoing roadworks in JASA which is scheduled to be finished by February next year. to
