MASANTOL - After the intensive drive to make the 26 villages of this municipality drugcleared, the Philippine National Police (PNP) together with the local government is set to implement the expanded anti-illegal drug campaign dubbed as Double Barrel Alpha.

The local PNP here led by Police Chief Inspector Julius Javier met with the chairmen of the 26 villages to discuss the newest project of the police force to totally eradicate the proliferation of dangerous drugs in their communities.

Javier first explained that “drug-clear” is different from “drug-free” villages wherein drug-cleared means that villages complied with all the requirement of IMPLAN 12-2016 otherwise known as the PNP Illegal Drugs Campaign Plan Project DoubleBarrel while drug-free means that drug pushing and using totally stopped in the area.

“Ngayon ay drug-cleared palang tayo pero under Oplan Double Barrel Alpha, umaasa tayo na maging drug-free ang Masantol sa pamamagitan ng mas malawig na information dissemination on the effects of illegal drugs in our bodies and in the community,” he said.

The Oplan Double Barrel Alpha, Javier said, will be an elaborated version of the initial Double Barrel operation which will now include schools, factories, and other private establishments.

The expanded program will still implement the Oplan Tokhang by knocking at the doors of the said facilities and establishments to conduct education drive on students and employees.

Javier added that the PNP will also get back to the drug suspects who voluntarily yielded themselves to authorities to ensure that they really mended their ways away from the dangerous drugs.

“Kapag na-declare na as drug-cleared yung isang barangay, ang goal natin is i-maintain yan sa pamamagitan ng ganitong programa,” he stressed.

The PNP also tasked the chairmen to consult the drug surrenderees in their respective villages if there are still drug users and pushers who did not yet turn themselves in.

“Balik tayo ngayon sa mga surrenderees kasi sigurado may mga kasamahan sila dati, may kakilala sila na hindi pa sumusuko. Tayo mismo na ngayon ang kakatok sa kanila para iinform sila,” he explained.

Javier said that the implementation of the Oplan Double Barrel Alpha is set next year after all the barangays in this municipality will be cleared from drug selling and use.

As of November, 18 of the 26 villages here were already declared drug-cleared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and PNP while the remaining eight villages are expected to comply with the requirements before the year ends.
