NESSA B. DIMALANTA
Parental involvement is a combination of commitment and active participation on the part of the parent to the school and to the student. Parental involvement can make a big difference in a child’s education. One of the best ways on how to show your support to your child is by attending school meetings or events. Helping your child with his assignment and discussing thing that has happened in school is one way also of promoting effective parenting. Being involved with your child performance at school gives him motivation to do better and be active in every activity that helps to develop his ability and intelligence.
It consistently shown that parental involvement in children’s education does make a positive difference to pupils’achievement. They said that we have two main educators in our lives- our parents and our teachers. The parents are the prime educators. Parental involvement with children from an early age has been found to equate with better outcomes. Home learning activities undertaken by parents is more important for children’s intellectual and social development than anything that parents do in life. Parental involvement continues to have a significant effect on achievement into adolescence and even adulthood. Parental involvement does not only helping your child to be a better student and perform well at school but it also strengthening your relationship with them and having this chance to know your children better and deeper.
Good education was viewed as very important to combat discrimination and low self-esteem. Parental involvement is a great way of helping your children to have big aspirations in life. Being involved with them in every step of the way helps the children to aim for a better life. Children whose parents stay involved are more likely to have higher self-esteem and be disciplined. Parents who are always there for their children’s educational journey are more likely to be sensitive to their child’s emotional and social needs. Children who have help from their parents are also more likely to feel competent and school attendance becomes more important to them.
Being involved also boosts the mental health of children and also helps your children interact better with their peers and advance their social skills. Being intensely involved with your child promotes effective educational process and more benefits to both parents and children.
