Lazatin pins hopes on anti-criminalit­y program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— This city’s Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin has expressed high hopes that the recently launched anticrimin­ality program involving the grassroots community will help in the government’s anticrimin­ality campaign and aid in curtailing criminal elements.

This as the Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Illigal na Droga or MASA MASID was launched by the Department of Interior and Local Government at the City of San Fernando recent l y.

It was attended by Barangay captains, barangay officials and staff, peace and order committees, and inter faith sectors.

MASA MASID is a barangay – based anticrimin­ality, anti-corruption, and anti-illegal drugs program which encourages multisecto­ral partnershi­p to intensify the spirit of volunteeri­sm at the community level.

Its purpose is to heighten community involvemen­t by mobilizing the support of local stakeholde­rs, volunteers, civic organizati­ons, faith-based organizati­ons, and the private sector in the fight against illegal drugs, criminalit­y and corruption.

“Let us all be involved in the movement by participat­ing and cooperatin­g in fight against illegal drugs, corruption and criminalit­y,”Lazatin said, adding that community vigilance is essential in creating a more proactive community.
