Subic shipbuilder Hanjin is top exporter in PH
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently recognized Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction-Philippines (HHIC-Phil) as top exporter for the machinery and transport equipment sector in the country.
The Top Sectoral Exporter citation was given to Hanjin during the National Export Congress as the DTI cited the company’s numerous export transactions during the past year.
The recognition is yet another milestone in more than 10 years of Hanjin’s productive shipbuilding activity in the Philippines, particularly in the country’s premier Freeport - where the company had also been acclaimed as a consistent top exporter among Subic registered enterprises in the recent year s.
The impact of Hanjin’s business operations on the Philippine economy is far and wide, pouring in US$2.3 billion worth of foreign direct investments and providing descent and gainful employments to over 33,000 Filipino colleagues from across the country. With Hanjin’s aggressive presence in the international shipbuilding market, the highly respected Europe-based Clarkson Research has steadily counted the Philippines among the elite group of the largest shipbuilding nations, ranking the country fifth in terms of order book.
