Kapampangan artists honored in SM arts event
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The My City, My SM series here over the weekend honor ed different Kapampangan artists for their contribution to Kapampangan religious art and culture.
The event was part of the My City, My SM, My Art and featured the works of Kapampangan artists Wilfredo Tadeo Layug, Mr. Eduardo Mutuc and Director Brillante Mendoza.
According to SM City Pampanga public relations officer Rain Cervantes, the event is a tribute to Kapampangan artistry. The event is a joint project of SM, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Shell Philippines, the Philippine Star, with support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Centerstage Productions, My City, My SM, My Art is a celebration of Philippine visual arts – painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and film maki ng.
Layug comes from an artistic family from the province of Betis. The Sta. Ursula barangay is considered as the town’s art center, with many generations of sculptors and woodcarvers residing t her e.
