8,557 Nanay community workers receive P4.27-M, food packs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 8,557 Nanay Community Workers (NCWs) received a total of P4,278,500 cash incentives plus food packs from the Pampanga government headed by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda on Wednesday held separately at Lubao Gymnasium and Bren Z. Guiao Convention Cen t er.

The food packs include five kilos of rice, four canned sardines, four packs instant noodles, four canned corned beef, one kilo of hotdogs, one whole chicken and a bottle of soy sauce.

The distributi­on is part of the assistance program and year-end assessment and Informatio­n and Education Campaign (IEC) of the provincial government.

The governor was joined by Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda together with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Chief Angie Blanco and Provincial Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office (PSWDO) Head Elizabeth Baybayan.

The governor took the chance to express her gratitude to the volunteers for their initiative and perseveran­ce in working hand in hand with the barangay councils.

Newly appointed Pampanga Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Joel R. Consulta also graced the event since the NCWs are now tasked to assist in the drug watch program in the community.

At present, the NCWs are also tasked to develop new resources effectivel­y while raising awareness on issues relevant to the community; assist sick people in their neighborho­od, barangay

profiling and assist the families in the barangay in availing of services of government agencies.

The lady governor formed the NCW program to increase the participat­ion of women in the provi nce.

First District Board Member Cherry Manalo, Third District Board Member Rosve Henson and the Provincial Treasurer’s Office headed by Susan Luna also assisted the governor and vice-governor in the distributi­on.
