Apalit launches Masa-Masid program
APALIT - In a bid to bring awareness on the ongoing fight against illegal drugs to the grassroots level, the local government here recently launched the Mamamayan Ayaw sa Anomalya-Mamamayan Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga (MASA-MASID) program.
MASA-MASID is one of the flagship programs of the Department of Interior and Local Government based in barangays to encourage multi-sectoral partnership and intensify the spirit of volunteerism at the community level.
Led by Mayor Peter Nucom, Philippine National Police and chairmen of the 12 villages here vowed to extend their efforts to minimize the occurrence of criminality, corruption and proliferation of illegal drugs in their communities.
Nucom said that residents are more aware of the events that are transpiring in their communities and their cooperation to suppress it is needed.
He also discussed the vital role of barangay councils in their proactive campaign in the project especially in the fight against drugs and criminality.
Nucom also asked different civic society organizations to support the program and be one with the local government in maintaining the peace and order of their municipality and provide inclusive development to its people.
The event was highlighted by the signing of the pledge of commitment headed by Nucom together with the punong barangays and their councils, as a promise to actively commit and participate in the realization of the project.
