trophy and cash prize, plus the coveted “bragging rights” of the GLF. Everything in place The 2016 GLF executive committee headed by Chairman Jim Jimenez earlier disclosed that all interventions have been put in place to ensure the safety and convenience of those who would watch the giant lantern festival.
Security, he said, would be strict with a large deployment of police, force multipliers and mall guards within the vicinity of the venue. As a precaution, drones, backpacks, large bags and bullcaps will not be allowed inside the main venue itself.
In case it will rain, Jimenez said that the committee has some 7,000 raincoats which will be given for free as umbrellas are similarly barred in the main venue.
Traffic will be managed by the full force of the city’s traffic management office and police, with alternate routes and signages to guide motorists going to and from Robinsons Starmills.
“We would advice the public or those who would watch the lantern festival to come early to avoid any untoward inconvenience. But rest assured, we have put in place all necessary measures for a successful GLF this year,” Jimenez said.--- JTD
