THE EXCITING ADVENTURES OF FILIPINO TEACHERS

-

CHRISTINE ANNE C. JUDAN

Teachers play a vital role in the Philippine society. They gain so much respect from the people of different walks of life whether they are professionals or non-professionals. They serve as powerful public figure who influence people they know and do not personally know. In a typical community situation, community people look up to teachers who live in their barangay. They always consult teachers on matters that need thorough understanding. They also seek for pieces of advice from them which are really effective and effici ent .

It’s good to hear those stories of successful teachers helping out their community. But, have you ever thought of the real life of teachers whom we call modern heroes? Do you know how their lives go on? As we all know, teachers tirelessly work 24/ 7. They perform a lot of responsibilities in and out of the school. Every day, they wake up early in the morning in going to school. Before they teach, they have to make comprehensive lessons plan. These lesson plans are checked by their principals so they should think of effective and efficient lesson plans. It’s not only that, they also need to prepare colorful visual aids that they use to motivate and hook their students to listen to them attentively and easily learn for the day’s lesson. Sometimes they even prepare power point presentations to cope up with the new trends in teaching.

Teaching the students especially the mentally-challenged ones and problematic students is one of the battles of the teachers. It is really challenging how to help the students learn the lesson and acquire the necessary skills they need to gain. It’s very challenging especially if they don’t like to listen. That’s why teachers exhaust a lot of time to think of effective and efficient strategies that they may use in their classrooms. That’s the life of a teacher. Laborious, tiring but fulfilling!
