Mika Reyes to take a break from volleyball

star Mika Reyes is looking to take a rest from the sport for a while.

“Hindi naman sa nagsasawa ako pero after five long years ko sa collegiate volleyball, siyempre parang pahinga muna as of now,” said the former De La Salle University middle, who in her half a decade of service as a Lady Spiker won three UAAP titles including last Season 78’s crown against Alyssa Valdez-led archrival Ateneo de Manila University in three games.

After her swan song for the green and white, Reyes helped F2 Logistics capture the 2016 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino title with most of DLSU’s championsh­ip core, played in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championsh­ip before leading the Cargo Movers to a third-place finish in the PSL Grand Prix.

“I have months pa naman para makapagpah­inga. Gagawin ko ang puwede kong gawin doon,” said the 5-foot-11 mestiza l ook er.

A talent under Virtual Playground, the 22-year old stunner for the meantime is looking to explore opportunit­ies outside of the volleyball court.

“Marami silang plans for me kasi options pa lang ngayon wala pang final pero siyempre gusto ko rin naman magwork para siyempre ako ang breadwinne­r sa amin, hindi naman sa hindi enough ang nakukuha ko, pero makakuha pa ako ng pwede pang (extra income),” she said.

“As of now, open pa ako sa lahat ng opportunit­ies pero hindi naman ako totally magsa-stop sa volleyball; open lang ako sa iba pang possibilit­ies na pwedeng mangyari outside sports,” added Reyes, who currently manages a family-owned resort in their hometown in Pulilan, Bulacan.

Asked if she’s open to enter showbiz, Reyes is more inclined into hosting than acting though she can make a good love team to Kapamilya actor Jerome Ponce, whom she currently dates.

“More on sa hosting siguro ako. 'Yun ang gusto ko talaga,” said Reyes.
