Solo parents, elderly receive P2.7-M from Capitol
CI TY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 3,238 solo parents and bedridden elderly from the 1st and 2nd district of Pampanga received incentives worth P2,754,000 and packs of groceries as part of the Christmas and New Year’s gift of the provincial government.
The distribution held at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center was led by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, board members and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Elizabeth Baybayan.
In her speech, the governor reminded the solo parents to take good care of themselves by safeguarding their health and by having regular consultations at the district and provincial hospitals where services rendered were truly dedicated to the kabalens.
The governor stressed that solo parents should be healthy as they are alone in raising their children.
She also promised the parents to help fund the education of their children through the Education Financial Assistance (EFAP) program of the Capitol.
“The provincial government can assist your children who are college students by giving them educational assistance. If they are already college graduates, the provincial government is willing to help them find decent jobs through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO),” the governor added.
Governor Pineda also reiterated that solo parents can avail free PhilHealth membership through the Point of Care program implemented in the 11 district and provincial hospitals.
The beneficiaries went home with a pack of groceries. Some 2,784 solo parents received P500 each while the remaining 454 bedridden elderly received P3,000 each as social pension.— Aida B. Bungue/ Pampanga PIO
