CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government of Pampanga distributed some P1,982,000 financial assistance, and goody packs to 3,964 persons with disabilities from the four districts of the province.

The distribution held respectively at Lubao Gymnasium and Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center was led by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda along with board members Rosve Henson, Cherry Manalo, Benny Jocson, Pol Balingit and Nelson Calara, and Capitol department heads.

Governor Pineda reminded the beneficiaries that they are exempted from the payment of 12-percent value added tax (VAT) on certain goods and services following the implementation of the Malasakit Law also known as Republic Act No. 10754 or an Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of Persons with Disability (PWDs).

The governor also thanked the caregivers of the PWDs for their care and dedication. She also reminded them to monitor the PWDs closely to prevent them from having other illnesses.

“Kung merong nararamdamang hindi maganda ‘yong mga PWDs, agad ninyo silang dalhin sa 11 ospital ng Kapitolyo,” the governor said.

According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Elizabeth Baybayan, the distribution of financial assistance is part of the regular program of the PSWDO intended for the PWDs while the distribution of goods is part of the Christmas gift of the provincial government.— Liezel Cayanan/ Pampanga PIO
