PASTOR APOLLO C. QUIBOLOY

-

The 2016 Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awardee in the field of Religion is Apollo Carreon Quiboloy.

Quiboloy is the founding Leader and Executive Pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name. It was founded on September 1, 1985.

He began preaching in the slums of Villamor, Agdao, Davao City with only 15 members. The sect’s main cathedral is located along Buhangin National Highway in Davao City.

His calling came as early as when he was 14 years old in high school. He was in this denomination and he became and evangelist and toured all over the Philippines. He was later sent to Korea and was one of the delegates there in 1973.

That was when he heard the voice. The voice told him in Cebuano, “Gamiton ta ka (I will use you).” Pastor Apollo did not know at the time the Almighty Father will use him when He was already using him (since he’s already an evangelist then).

He saw a vision that told him, “If you will seek me, you will find me in my way.” He also saw a vision of what was happening in these last days in the world today. It was a vision of worldwide destruction, worldwide panic and worldwide chaos.

His followers refer to their community as a “Kingdom Nation” and claim about 2 million “Kindom citizens” abroad and 4 million in the Philippines. In 2000, Quiboloy founded Jose Maria College, named after his parents. His ministry has a global television channel, the Sonshine Media Network International (President and CEO), and 17 radio stations in the Philippines.

It also has two newspapers, Pinas and Sikat; the Pinas is circulated weekly for followers in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

In June 2014, Quiboloy founded Sonshine Sports Management, the newly created sports management group based in Davao City. SSMI organized different boxing and basketball events within the city.
