HOW TO ENGAGE STUDENTS

-

First step in engaging students into learning is by creatinf a close relationship with them. This will be easier for them to ask a teacher a question. One way is to create a bond with students, engage them in personal conversation.

This can be done by sitting and talking about anything, with the we teacher right in the middle of the conversation. By drawing closer to students, teachers can create a space where students will feel comfortable and safe. They will be less shy and turn in better work.

It also won’t hurt if teachers added humor to the lessons, when they don’t take everything too seriously. There are serious moments, but students will be more engaged when there is humor.

Giving students freedom of choice on projects will also help. This will ensure that students will never get bored because they’ll have a choice in their project, and they’ll choose to incorporate their passions and interests into their work. This will also result to greater quality work, especially if they put in much time and effort.

And after a project has been done, students like to see that their work is displayed within the classroom or hallway. This will push them to do better work and help them feel proud of the work they’ve done.

It’s a great feeling to see other kids looking at their projects, and some would even compliment others on the work.
