CHANGE FOR A BETTER TOMORROW
SHARLEEN FAYE C. MAÑALAC
Change has indeed come! This is true not only in the government’s advocacy against drugs, but with the government programs as well. One of the observable change is the implementation of “no collection policy” in the conduct of graduation ceremony for the school year 2016-2017.
Graduation rites will commence beginning April 8-11, 2017, themed: “Sabaysabay Na Paghakbang Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan.” The theme speaks for the aspiration of the government to conduct the graduation exercises through the collaborative efforts of the candidates, their parents, and the school’s stakeholders. It accentuated the importance of harmony and unity in achieving quality education and in building a better future for the graduatesthe hope of Fatherland.
In consonance with the DepEd’s appeal to conduct the ceremony in its outmost simplicity, Mancatian Elementary School has imposed the “no collection” from among the learners and their parents. On April 8, 2017 at 8:00am, the school will hold its first graduation exercises minus the excessive spending, extravagant attire, lavishly decorated venue and sumptuous meals. Medals, certificates and ribbons are chargeable against the school MOOE. The PTCA themselves will make the necessary preparation in making the graduation celebration meaningful at its simplest.
The implementation of “no collection” policy in the conduct of closing ceremonies, is a timely move and a wiser step in achieving the government goal. Truly, change has finally come!
