Cop from CSF is Gwapang Pulis 2017
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— A 37-year old beauty from the City of San Fernando was hailed on Monday as the first “Gwapang Pulis.”
In the coronation night held at the LausGroup Event Centre here, PO3 Lerma Pineda-Castro who is assigned at the Office of the Regional Police Community Relations Division and who represented the Regional Headquarters, bested the 11 other candidates coming from the nine provincial police offices/city police offices (PPOs/CPOs), Regional Support Unit (RSU) and Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB).
“As a policewoman, I will start from myself and as long as my family are free from illegal drugs, I will enforce the law without any reservation. I will contribute to the campaign of the Philippine National Police to help our President for the betterment of our country,” Pineda-Castro said in her winning answer to the question: “As a policewoman how can you contribute in the fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country?”
Aside from the crown, sash and trophy for Miss Gwapang Pulis 2017, she was also awarded Miss Congeniality, P30,000 cash, a trip for two to Singapore and other special awards from the sponsors.
In Pineda-Castro’s court are PO1 Catherine Ellaine Austria of the Bataan PPO, first runner-up; PO1 Suzanne Dizon of RPSB, second runner-up; PO1 Anne Jerica Buenafe of the Olongapo CPO, third runner-up; and PO2 Rose Airene Cayanan of Pampanga PPO, fourth runner-up.
A part of the celebration of Women’s Month by the Police Regional Office III (PRO-3), Gwapang Pulis 2017 ensures women empowerment and equality in the police service.
“Policewomen hold key roles in the PNP and their accomplishments have contributed immensely to the organization’s quest towards transformation. PRO-3 leadership will always be responsive to advocate gender awareness and development in the police force to empower the hand that rocks the cradle,” PRO-3 Director PCSupt. Aaron N. Aquino said.
The judges for the first Gwapang Pulis include Arcel Yambing, Mister Philippines; Paul Tristan Laus, Mitsubishi Carworld COO; Ailyn Albino, of Style and Care Salon, Vicky Cabigting, PRO3 Regional Advisory Council chairwoman and Michelle Uy of the City of San Fernando.
