“Since everyone is aiming for better appearances, some consumers do not check what ingredients are actually being put into that product,” Jurado said.
The health effects of personal care products was discussed by EMB-DENR Engr. Kristine Pacate. She said that even beauty products have an ugly side. She reminds everyone to make sure that the personal care products that are used are really safe.
Meanwhile, EMB-DENR speaker Engr. Lily Castro, discussed Household hazardous waste. She emphasized that
as a consumer, one must know first if the products that we use every day in cleaning our homes are safe, because some of the products may contain harmful ingredients that may lead to cancer.
“Most of us are using soaps, detergents and air-fresheners to keep our houses odorless, but if the product that we use have destructive ingredients, it can be unsafe to us especially if inhaled or touched,” Castro said.
Castro gave some tips on how to use properly the products to ensure the safeness of everyone.
“Wear a face mask and use safety gears when cleaning your homes to avoid contact to eyes and skin. In buying a product, you must go for the suitable products, not the fake ones. Check and read the label and understand well if it is good to your skin and appropriate to use in your homes.”
