RH BILL OF 2008: FROM A PARENT` S POINT OF VIEW

DELFIN P. LICUP We could not deny the fact that the government is out the predicaments of rapid population growth. This is probably the obvious rationale of the administration why the RH Bill came into our midst. In lieu of this, people are entitled to their own view-points and assessments about any concern pertinent to them.

The aforesaid bill gained divided opinions and interpretations among people from all walks of life. According to the government, the Reproductive Health Bill upholds information on the right use of family planning method, whether natural or modern. Meaning, the bill is presented to people and the choice lies on a couple which family planning method suits their wants based on their own needs, own passions and spiritual philosophy.

Diverse sectors of our society poured out their sentiments regarding the issue. Different religious groups came out with their personal and professional concerns. They even pointed out the immortality of this act against their beliefs. According to them, the RH Bill is an act which shows the way for young people to engage in pre-marital sex that will result to early and unwanted pregnancies and lead to abortion. Some said that, it is not pro-life many believe that the life and health of women will be taken at risk for this will cause various diseases among them.

On the other hand, many still believe that nothing is immoral inasmuch as RH Bill is concerned, for it gives pro and quality life as it will provide ample assurances that children will be treasured by their parents for they are planned and wanted. It will well-fortify the family as a small unit of society. Children will be given more opportunity for education, healthy life, to be creative and productive members of the society. The clash of personal views will be never come to an end and would possibly aggravate the circumst an ces.

Let us just take our essential duties and social responsibilities whether the population growth is the issue or any difficult position that quantifies our being rational to decipher dilemmas. Let us get off from the dungeon that we had shaped with pride. Let’s have disciplined and uphold our values for us to have a healthy and God-loving lifestyle.
