PROJECT KMK: ‘KATUTUBO, MAHAL KO’
MERVIN H. ARTILLERO The existence of human and material resources has been the most powerful weapon in the advocacy of community involvement. This strengthens several programs and projects of the Department of Education that uphold personal and communal development. The implementation of such community-based activities is advertently prioritized as the project “Katutubo, Mahal Ko!” serves its purpose.
Embracing the opportunity in conducting a community outreach program puts every committed individual in exploring life’s different perspectives-the big life of the Katutubo neighbors. The undertaking of holding this project is significantly taken for it caters the needs of the individuals living in a certain community. There have been many ways in extending help and assistance to indigenous people, yet, the invaluable experience of the three-day outreach program held at Sitio Malasa Anupul, Bamban, Tarlac with the presence and collaborative efforts of the organizers and the people behind the success of the program.
The execution of the planned activities fills the hearts and minds of the participants; thus, a sense of mission is a celestial feeling when the teachers of Dapdap High School continuously bring happiness and contextualized lessons to the indigent members in order to save the mother earth through tree planting and clean-up drive, to apply family planning and personal hygiene after the symposium proper, and at the same time, to see the importance of healthy lifestyle by eating nutritious foods.
To embark the participants with life-long activities is indeed a good start in making themselves grow as individuals. How would it be working? Is it geared towards its continuity?
Yes, the project’s sustainability is planned accordingly to ensure its success with the service of the organizers and technical working committees who are endowed with personal attributes and a willing heart to lead the communal endeavors.
