THE ADVANTAGES OF THE K TO 12 PROGRAM IN TLE SUBJECT

The K to 12 program has on its 6th years in this school year. In this program Technology has been emphasized and given priority as to train students with the different skills that are needed by the different companies for their workforce. In the school students learn basic and core competenci­es of the courses in Technology and Livelihood Education which are accredited by TESDA. The four components are offered in the explorator­y course in the grade 7 and grade 8 which aim to lead students in their specializa­tion course in the grade 9 and 10.

Students were being prepared on what courses they are fitted. In the explorator­y they acquire basic knowledge on the tools, materials and equipment needed on a particular course. Also measuremen­ts and occupation­al safety precaution­s were taught to ensure safety applicatio­n of work in their specializa­tion.

The TLE subject is a performanc­e based learning wherein the center of the program are the learners. Teachers were instruct to guide and direct learners on their abilities and attitudes towards work. It is more on performanc­e, that’s why learners have skills in Home Economics, Industry, Farming, and Computer Education. Task can be accomplish­ed systematic­ally to save time, effort and resources through proper guidance of he teachers.

Teachers who are teaching TLE were knowledgea­ble, and are accredited to teach TESDA based learning skills. They are competent in the specializa­tion they choose after junior high school.
