CSF celebrates Women’s Week

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The city government here yesterday kicked-off the celebratio­n of Women’s Week here by unveiling the calendar of activities and launching of the book “Nicolasa Dayrit-Panlilio: Ing Bayaning Fernandino.”

Activities for Women’s Week, which is unique to the City of San Fernando on top of its observance of Women’s Month in March, include story telling based on the book and an art exhibit mounted by multi-sectoral governance council member Agnes Romero at SM City San Fernando Downtown on September 4 to 8 as well as the “Marawi Teacher’s Kit” campaign where donations for educators will be accepted by the Department of Education and City Schools Division from September 4 to 10.

On September 5, the City Health Office (CHO) will conduct the “Bantay Usok-Sigarilyo Brigade: Smoke Free Activity” at the amphitheat­er of Heroes Hall to raise awareness about the hazards of smoking among women and the youth.

The youth forum on reproducti­ve health, drug awareness, values and anti-bullying will be conducted by Soroptimis­t Pampanga and Pampanga Star, along with the Philippine National Police, Girl Scouts of the Philippine­s, CHO, City Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office and Gender and Developmen­t focal persons at Sindalan High School, Pampanga High School, Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Integrated School, San Nicolas Integrated School, Northville High School and San Isidro Integrated School on September 6 to 7.

The same schools will be the venues for the art and on the spot poster making contests on September 6 to 7.

On September 7 to 8, the basic first aid training for women leaders and water lily by-products training and spot welding will be held at the Nego Center at the former DFA building, while the women entreprene­urs’trade fair will run from September 7 to 9 in front of city all.

Women’Week will culminate with a mass and wreath laying at the Henson-Hizon ancestral house here.
