Angeles PESO holds jobs fair

-

ANGELES CITY – Hundreds of Job-seeking Angeleños flocked to the annual Jobs Fair of the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) Angeles at Robinsons Place Balibago on Tuesday.

The jobs fair, held at the third floor of the mall, was organized in collaboration with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Pampanga, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

In an interview with PESO-Angeles Officer-InCharge Maria Rosa Teodora Basilio, she stated that the career expo is PESO’s way of helping out the job aspirants not only in the city, but also other Kapampangans applying for decent work.

Meanwhile, League of Cities of the Philippines President and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee and lauded their dedication in providing the people an opportunity to achieve their dream jobs.

“I am thankful of the PESO and the support of their partners for holding the yearly Jobs fair. This gives the people a chance of a decent employment so they can provide for their families,” he said.

Booths of local and international companies as well as government offices were mounted and were opened for new recruits and job placement.

Pre-noontime’s registry alone totalled to over 200 job seekers, and the organizing committee is expecting more to come in during the busier hours of the day.

Since her assumption of office last year, Basilio stated that “the conduct of job fairs have been successful in achieving PESO’s goal of lobbying employment opportunities, both local and overseas, to thousands of Angeleños.”

As of press time, participating companies are yet to give reports to PESO-Angeles to document how many job seekers were hired,

some of which have been hired on the spot, while some have been qualified for interviews and were later on employed.

The jobs fair is part of the city’s month-long celebration of Fiestang Kuliat.
