SOME REFLECTIONS TO RESTRUCTURE CONTENTS IN EIM
OSWALDO P. PACHECO
One way of improving instruction is to reflect on existing practices and come up with changes to improve it.
The good thing about reflective teaching is it allows the changes that would be implemented to be reflected and evaluated again.
In my years of teaching EIM, I reflected on the content of the course and came up with the following suggestions to restructure its content.
There are some contents in EIM that are less beneficial to students. For instance, too much time is allotted to electrical and hydraulic tools. Tools that are seldom used except when EIM workers miscalculate and make shortages on raceways placement especially on concrete works.
Another one is too much time is also allotted to fluorescent and incandescent lamps. For lighting fixtures, it is wiser to buy than to troubleshoot, lighting materials nowadays have revolutionary innovations.
Perhaps, it is more advantageous to integrate contents like electrical generation, transmission, distribution and utilization. EIM anyway have started from these contents.
Based on my reflection, these proposed restructuring would satisfy the end goal, to improve instruction.
