CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
FLORENCIA Z. GARCIA
Continuing Professional Development is very important to all professionals because it enable them to keep abreast of current information about current issues of their profession.
And today it is also one of the requirements to renew Professional License. CPD units must not be a burden to the professional especially with the financial aspects. The employer or administrators should design a comprehensive staff development to improve professional skills and behavioral skills of their professional staff.
The employer may offer staff a manageable number of new strategies. Staff needs administrative support for change; they may set strategies that will benefit to them and to their organization/institution. They should make a variety of staff development formats available to professional staff. They should concentrate to those who are very much willing to be trained and has greatest interest in the reform. Staffs that are willing to learn new strategies and attempt new practices in their profession deserve the full support of employer/ administration.
Professionals who become increasingly expert in employing innovative strategies, their enthusiasm develops and spreads to the coworkers. At the same time, administrators/employers need to retain an attitude of openness to all staff, including those who act more resistant to change. — oOo—
