The Philippine government, local organizations and local communities implement programs to strengthen government, community-based protective mechanism and responses for vulnerable children and families to prevent child abuse as well as address the negative impact caused by child abuse and family violence.

Being safe is something many of us take seriously, yet sadly majority of children aren’t.

Some kids experience violence, they may look normal but life is quite complicated for these young minds. Physically okay but mentally and emotionally battered. Evidently the home is a factor for the unhealthy condition.

The department of Education adopts child protection policy to ensure pupil and student welfare particularly in schools. This refers to programs, services, procedures and structures that are intended to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination and violence.

School personnel are advised to exercise special parental authority and responsibility over the child while under their supervision and custody, keep students in their company and support, educate and instruct them by right precept and good example, give them love and affection, advice and counsel, companionship and understanding.

Schools are motivated to enhance, protect, preserve and maintain their physical and mental health at all times with the assistance of the school head and discipline officer. Teacher coaches represent them in all matters affecting their interest like training and sending them to different competitions that enhance their skills in different subject areas.

Values teachers and class advisers are there to inculcate the value of respect and obedience evident in their classroom behavior and attitudes in and out of the school. Corporal punishment is too far to be seen as schools practice positive and non-violent discipline among our students.

They are safe in school, it is hoped they are at home.
