Mayor Garbo
MABALACAT CITY MAYOR CRISOSTOMO C. GARBO wants to do away with the culture of money as most of his constituents got used to during the previous administration.
In a talk with this writer last Monday, January 8, 2018, he intimated that he abhors this mendicant attitude and highlighted his desire to govern according to due process and guidelines. He says he wants to be known for his beneficial acts rather than the amount of money he doles out. He adds that this kind of political patronage does not bode well to good governance.
It must be noted that he has forged memoranda of agreement with several private hospitals to take care of the needs of Mabalaquenos: Sacred Heart Hospital, The Medical City, Mt. Carmel Hospital, San Rafael Foundation Medical Center, Accumed and others. This way, Mayor Garbo says, his constituents will be assured of health care with minimum inconvenience. Previously, he has institutionalized the burial and financial assistance to the M abal aqu en o s.
The whole wellness package for the Mabalaquenos is a significant contribution of Mayor Garbo for the welfare and health concerns of every Mabalaqueno.
Lately, he has purchased new firetrucks, ambulances and service vehicles as he had previously promised.
I make good my promises, Mayor Garbo says, and I expect the recipients of the vehicles to take care of them. After all, the people’s money was used to acquire these vehicles and therefore there is a need to take good care of them, he concludes.
* * * Mayor Garbo also has the habit of being forthright in his pronouncements. He does not make empty boasts or promises which he cannot fulfill, ergo, he expects his subordinates and the employees to prove their existence in the daily operations of the city government.
* * * Again, Mayor Cris emphasized his prerogatives: God, family and lastly politics. He wants to concentrate on improving first the systems and records of the city government. No politics, he says, at the moment since he concentrates on governing with full sincerity, action and dispatch. He stays at the office even at the late hours to sign documents.
His schedule nowadays includes sorting out the appointment papers of job order contract holders and casuals and determines who deserve to be retained or re-appointed.
* * * Batch 1963 of the St. Anthony Junior College will have their reunion on February 7, 2018 at Venmari, Poblacion.
