SCHOOL MANAGEMENT
CHERRYL M. BULANADI
The Systems in Kiwi Leadership states that every school needs to have systems that help create the conditions for staff and students to work effectively together. Everyone appreciates simple, clear goals and effective processes. School systems provide and effectively communicate the ground rules for everyone. They ensure a measure of consistency in approach and action across the school.
In managing a school, clear-cut guidelines should be implemented and adhered to ensure not only efficient day-to-day operations, but more importantly the success of students as well teachers and even non-teching personnel.
In school management, there must be clear understanding of school finances, key sources of financial information, keeping accounts and preparing budgets, and reporting on and reviewing school finances.
It also involves planning and reporting, the purpose and content of a school charter, each one’s role in developing a charter, and reviewing and updating a charter.
Other key factors in efficient school management involves appointing staff and payroll, concurrence, individual and team performance, administrative requirements, attendance at the school, engagement and attendance, property plans, school property policies and procedures and property management.
It is a fact that efficiency in school management is sometimes hampered by obstacles like complaints and problems. Thus, it is very essential in school management that complaints are handled properly with simple, broad principles and applications to the way the school deals with complaints.
Finally, efficient school management calls for effective communication in all levels and tiers of the school. Established policies for managing the myriad of everyday communications in school help greatly in daily operations in the campus and ensures work coordination in all departments.
