MASANTOL - The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday turned-over a P2-million check to the local government here as incentive granted through the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).

The PCF is granted to local government units who delivered excellent public service in various aspects which are identified through the annual Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

For Masantol, the PCF served as one of the incentives for bagging its very first SGLG award in 2017 since it was launched by the DILG on 2014.

This was after it passed the standards set by the DILG on proper financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental protection and management and promotion of tourism, culture and the arts.

According to DILG Pampanga Director Myrvi Fabia, the incentive must be translated into local and social development and poverty-reduction infrastructure projects for the benefit of Masantoleños.

Mayor Danilo Guintu, for his part, said that the local government here is yet to identify the project where the funds will be downloaded.

He stressed that since it is the town’s first SGLG award, he wanted it to be special with a lasting benefit to his fellow Masantoleños.

“Ang SGLG ay produkto ng pagkakaisa at kooperasyan ng bawat Masantoleño at nararapat lang na ang financial grant na kasama nito ay mai-translate sa isang magandang proyekto na magagamit ng tao kahit wala na ako,” he said.
