MATH TRAINING FOR PHS TEACHERS

Mathematics is very essential in today’s world. In addition, mathematical knowledge plays a crucial role in understanding the contents of other school subjects such as science, social studies, and even music and arts.
The localization and contextualization of the lessons in Mathematics will eventually make the lessons more interesting, exciting and more fun. The students will not get bored but will be motivated to acquire new knowledge and skill. Real teachers in real schools face real challenges implementing the numerous standards and recommendations for Mathematics teachers today. Many teachers get excited about the possibilities for new kinds of instruction just as they are also bogged down by the overwhelming expectations about how they should provide that instruction.
The first part of this INSET activities/ sessions for the Mathematics teachers of Pampanga High School was last May 24, 2017, school year 2017-2018. The part 2 was held last July 20, 2017 and part 3 of the training will be on September 25, 2017. This training is an ongoing process that needs validation and close supervision from the immediate supervisor. This is to aid the mathematics teachers in using instructional materials in teaching mathematics. It is indeed necessary for teachers to exceed beyond their usual practices and teaching styles, teachers need to have innovations on their teaching strategies and techniques to meet the present demands of the 21st century student.
This training aims:
1. to acquire an additional technique in making instructional materials for 21st Century learners ;
2. to refresh the minds of Mathematics teachers regarding K to 12 Curriculum; 3. to show how the different approaches, tools and instructional materials in teaching Mathematics can be used effectively through Demo Teaching of selected teachers using their “Innovative Instructional Materials”;
4. to encourage the Mathematics teachers find ways on meeting challenges brought about by recent issues concerning students.
5. to promote good-fellowship among Mathematics teachers.
