Sto. Tomas town gets P2-M PCF
STO. TOMAS— The local government unit of Sto. Tomas received on January 22 the P2-million Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) cash incentive from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
This was part of the incentive to the town for passing the 2017 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) along with the 12 municipalities in the province. It was the first time the town received the SGLG award.
The P2-million PCF was check handed by DILG Provincial Director Mryvi Apostol-Fabia to Mayor Johnny A. Sambo and witnessed by Renalyn D. Iglesias, LGOO VI, cluster team leader, DILG Pampanga, Mariel V. Estacio. LGOO V Sto. Tomas, Silvestre C. Pineda, municipal administrator and department heads at the municipal hall.
The SGLG award is conferred to local government units (LGUs) that adhere to performance criteria on any of the following areas: good financial housekeeping (GFH), disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public sector and tourism, culture and arts.
Fabia congratulated Sto. Tomas town for passing the 2017 SGLG criteria and challenged them to surpass their feat in this year’s SGLG.
Sambo said that the P2-million cash inventive will be utilized for various infrastructure and social services in the municipality.
After the presentation of the check and meeting, Sambo, together with Estacio accompanied Fabia in touring the various infrastructure projects by the incumbent municipal administration funded through the Office of Representative Juan Pablo “Rimpy” P. Bondoc.
Among the projects visited are the municipal auditorium, municipal hall annex building project, Sto. Tomas Community Hospital and Sto.Tomas Government Center both in Barangay San Vicente; construction of Sto. Tomas Commercial Center (rehabilitation of the old municipal building) and Fish Landing Community Center both in Barangay Poblacion; construction of San Vicente Evacuation Center and Multi-Purpose Center in Barangay San Vicente; school buildings in Dr. Emigdio A. Bondoc Housing Ville in Sitio Balut, Barangay Sto. Nino (Sapa); and vacant lot in Barangay Moraz Dela Paz for the proposed showroom of the products of the town requested by the municipal mayor to the provincial governor.— Jeffrey M. Gomez/Sto.
