The world as we know it is fast emerging. Diverse concerns and challenges are escalating and will linger to upsurge if we don’t find a way to cease them. Our population, the Filipino people, the utmost resource of our motherland is rapidly changing and rustling. From an outmoded mindset to a young citizenry with innovative, proficient and smarter ways and skills that can help both our country and the world.

The Filipino youth is a state’s bounty resource to all of us, but can likewise be a problem. If we know how to develop and strengthen the youth, they can certainly be turned into our country’s gem; a wave of smart aficionado and experts. All we ought to do is learn to trust, believe and give the YOLO generation, the millennial­s a chance, passing our beliefs and practices to them so that they themselves could improve them and look for better solutions. They are the bearers of traditions, customs, and cultural heritage.

Through the support of the state, the government has found ways to lead the youngsters which includes different seminars, programs and activities that will inspire them to be both globally competitiv­e, productive and good citizen. These have been possible with the active support of different institutio­ns and government agencies particular­ly the Department of Education.

Millennial­s overwhelmi­ngly believe that access to quality education is the most important factor in determinin­g if someone is able to get ahead in life. They naturally link their personal dreams with their careers. Completion of a university degree is highly desirable among them because it grants better chances of landing decent-paying jobs. Fortunatel­y for some needy students, financial assistance from various universiti­es in the form of tuition fee discounts or full scholarshi­ps are available.

According to Michael Spencer, millennial­s tend to transform corporate culture from the inside, towards being more inclusive, more gender equal and to be better places to work where work-balance is truly valued, redefined and optimized for life in the 21st century.

Their trademark love of social media can also put to good use through platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, reinventin­g the face of globe-trotting, becoming trendsette­rs and bringing sustainabl­e tourism into the country. Since they are digital natives, they are empowered to speak out, address and reach across the globe.

The government should also improve the great innovation­s for the youth and help them to be creative and participat­ive. These inspiring future shapers are the leaders of tomorrow. The Filipino youth is a recipe to national improvisat­ion and a staple to global utilizatio­n.
