Guv to donate additional land to BIR

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda said that the Provincial Government of Pampanga will be donating some 2,000 square meters of additional land space to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here.

Governor Pineda made the announceme­nt during the recent inaugurati­on of the new BIR complex here adding that the additional land would fully address the parking space problems of the agency and remove unnecessar­y vehicle parking and traffic congestion in front of the BIR’s section of the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Sindalan.

This as the BIR has fully transferre­d operations at its new building complex in a onehectare property donated by the Provincial Government of Pampanga. The buildings include the BIR Regional Office Building, Document Processing Division and offices for the Revenue District Office No. 21A North Pampanga and Revenue District Office No. 21B South Pampanga.

BIR Regional Director Jethro Sabariaga welcomed the new land donation adding that it will contribute in the overall operations of the BIR here. He also expressed his optimism that the BIR will be able to meet its target collection this year as per the marching order of Commission­er Cesar Dulay.

The region exceeded its 2017 Collection Goal Allocation by P947-million or 3.17 percent, collecting a total of P30.46 billion. This impressive collection was driven by the region’s 24.7 percent increase over the last year’s enforcemen­t activities.

This was supplement­ed by the region’s update in zonal valuation of four its revenue district offices namely RDO No. 21B-City of San Fer n an d o , So u t h Pampanga, RDO No. 22Baler, Aurora, RDO No. 23A-Talavera, North Nueva Ecija and RDO No. 23B-Cabanatuan.

The region likewise continued its aggressive recruitmen­t in filing up efforts. It increased its employee hiring by 15 percent from 2016. The region also filed 17 RATE cases and 29 Oplan Kandado Activities.
